Why? The Weird Old Guy?

Most of you reading this right now are close friends and family. Welcome to my first Blog! By now you've heard that Boone and I are opening a store and you're probably thinking, "like they need to add anymore to their plate." Insert eye roll. Well we did.

I'm calling her our fourth baby together... after our two children and our combined animals, meet The Weird Old Guy. This second hand boutique epitomizes the union of Boone's love to collect all things old or discarded and my love of getting rid of them. From our age difference to our personality difference we're an odd match, but we work.

Our new endeavor crosses many boxes for us. While Boone loves auctions, estate sales, thrift stores and dumpster diving, I love following behind him tidying, organizing and judiciously parring his finds.

We both share the heavy feeling that as humans we've created too much junk and as a society it's gotten too easy to throw things away without a second thought. Just buy a new one. It's cheaper than fixing it after all. That's so lame! And absolutely unsustainable.

Our second hand store isn't an answer, but it is a statement. Who knows? Given time maybe it'll turn into something else entirely.
